Claire Dune a obtenu son doctorat en informatique à l’Université de Rennes en 2009, sous la direction du Professeur Eric Marchand. Ses travaux de thèse, réalisés au sein de l’équipe Lagadic à l’Inria de Rennes en collaboration avec le CEA-LIST, portaient sur les méthodes de vision active appliquées à la reconnaissance d’objets et à la préhension en robotique d’assistance.

Elle a ensuite rejoint le laboratoire conjoint CNRS–AIST de robotique à Tsukuba, au Japon, en tant que chercheuse post-doctorale de la Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Aux côtés d’Olivier Stasse, Pierre-Brice Wieber, Katsuhito Yokoi et Eiichi Yoshida, elle a travaillé sur le contrôle prédictif par modèle et l’asservissement visuel pour la locomotion des robots humanoïdes.

En 2010, elle est devenue maîtresse de conférences à l’Université de Toulon. De 2010 à 2015, ses activités de recherche ont été accueillies au sein de l’équipe HEPHAISTOS d’Inria Sophia Antipolis, dirigée par Jean-Pierre Merlet, où elle a principalement collaboré avec Jean-Pierre Merlet, David Daney et Patrick Rives. Durant cette période, elle a développé un système d’analyse de la marche basé sur la vision, intégré à un déambulateur robotisé intelligent.

En 2015, elle a contribué activement à la création et à la structuration du laboratoire COSMER à l’Université de Toulon. En collaboration principalement avec Vincent Hugel, elle y a mis en place un programme de recherche consacré à la perception visuelle et au contrôle fondé sur les capteurs pour la robotique sous-marine. De 2019 à 2024, elle a également été mise à disposition à mi-temps auprès de l’équipe PRAO de l’IFREMER à Toulon, où elle a été accueillie par Jan Opderbecke et a collaboré étroitement avec Aurélien Arnaubec et Maxime Ferrera.

Depuis son arrivée à l’Université Laval et au Northern Robotics Laboratory, ses recherches portent sur les robots sous-marins autonomes évoluant dans des environnements difficiles et dynamiques, en particulier sous la glace et dans les régions arctiques. Ses intérêts de recherche couvrent notamment la modélisation et la gestion des câbles ombilicaux des ROV, la localisation visuelle, la reconstruction photogrammétrique active des fonds marins, l’exploration autonome ainsi que l’interaction plongeur–robot.
