Edith Brotherton, P.Eng. is the scientific coordinator at NorLab since January 2022. Expert in optimization and mathematic modeling of factory layout, she is interested both in the design and the management of industrial systems. Since 2010, Edith is teaching part-time in business administration (Facilities Planning and Layout) and industrial engineering (Diagnostic and Design Project), in addition to her research job. Her main role in the lab is to coordinate field deployments and research activities in close relationship with industrial partners, to make mobile robotic systems better in Northern or difficult conditions. Building on her expertise as a project manager and business analyst, she ensures progress monitoring and validates the relevance and rigor of the methods and techniques used by supervising the contractual, financial, and operational aspects of the projects.
Before joining the NorLab, Edith led several business intelligence projects in the manufacturing sector, including developing a sales management cockpit (Biscuits Leclerc) and a demand analytics technology for replenishment in retail stores (Aldo Group). She also applied her knowledge to the forest industry, including developing a management dashboard for harvesting and silviculture entrepreneurs, optimizing wood allocation in logistics networks, and reducing GHG using wood yard in mixed forest context.
